Who We Are

100 Million Healthier Lives is an unprecedented collaboration of change agents across sectors who are pursuing an unprecedented result.

  • Mission: 100 million people living healthier lives by 2020.
  • Vision: to fundamentally transform the way the world thinks and acts to improve health, well-being, and equity to get to breakthrough results.

Together, we are creating solutions to the most intractable challenges that stand in the way of achieving health, well-being and equity across the globe. In the five years since 100 Million Healthier Lives launched, our members have started changing the world in meaningful ways, working together-- with kids, with veterans, with elders -- on topics from nutrition, to mental health, to education, to homelessness, and many more.

Why 100MLives

The time is right for a major leap forward in the creation of health, well-being, and equity. We know we have the people, the tools, and the heart necessary to turn the rising tide chronic disease; to support our youth as they learn and our elders as they age, to overcome social isolation and diseases of despair. We know that we can disrupt long standing structural inequities in health and well-being outcomes if we adopt a fundamentally different approach, one which brings us together across sectors, leading together to address the physical, social and behavioral contributors to health.

By choosing an audacious goal —100 million people living healthier lives by 2020 across the globe— that no one organization or initiative can achieve alone, we are committing to unprecedented collaboration, a humble spirit of learning, innovation and improvement, and systemic change to create a Culture of Health.

Equity

Advancing equity is critically important to improving health. Why? Because today, people do not have the same chance to live the healthiest life possible. Today, two children born only a few miles apart can have a difference in life expectancy of up to 25 years. Today, a school-to-prison pipeline devastates the future potential of many communities of color. Today, access to housing, education and safety are not available to all, and this threatens national security, community integrity and economic vitality. We believe that equity must become a common priority today for everyone and every community to have the same chance at a thriving tomorrow. To join 100MLives, advancing equity must be your priority.

We have committed to proactively support people and policies that may be especially vulnerable. The leaders of the 100MLives Equity and Social Determinants of Health Hub wrote a concept paper about how 100MLives members are addressing the drivers of equity. as a resource for members across the movement and beyond.
